MISSION STATEMENT

 
Florida A&M University is committed to inspirational teaching and exemplary research through creative partnerships at the local, state, national and global levels.  The Division of Research seeks to:
  • support the economic development agenda of the state and region;
  • offer superior support services to faculty, staff and students to pursue their research endeavors;
  • encourage collaboration and interdisciplinary research activities on campus and externally;
  • promote excellence within the academic programs and support areas;
  • establish national and international partnerships in research;
  • effectively protect, manage and market intellectual property; and
  • ensure the highest level of fiscal responsibility in grants management.

The Contracts and Grants Office supports and works collaboratively with the university to provide award financial services for externally funded sponsored research activities. We provide comprehensive support and expertise on fiscal management, adherence to federal regulations, timely and accurate reporting and improvements to reduce administrative burden.

The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) provides guidance in developing, processing, and submitting formal proposals and grant applications for sponsored research.

The Office of Animal Welfare and Research Integrity/Laboratory Animal Care Facility ensures humane care by providing for the animals' daily care and housing and veterinary care when necessary. The OAWRI team is dedicated to supporting the education and research mission of Florida A&M University, while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations, guidelines and policies.

The external sponsorship of research can result in the development of complex relationships between the University, its faculty, and staff, and the external sponsor(s) who support specific programs. The Institutional Review Board (IRB) will ascertain the acceptability of ALL proposed research in terms of institutional commitments and regulations, applicable 1aw, and standards of professional conduct and practice. The IRB will be primarily concerned with the protection (level or risk) of human subjects in research. The IRB will conduct its activities, according to and as required by FDA guidelines (21CPR-Part 56).
