My Vision as COO

Florida A&M University is rich fertile ground that constantly nourishes, develops and produces dynamic graduates who contribute to the continual evolution of our global society. As Chief Operating Officer I seek to cultivate a campus environment that embodies innovation, creative-thinking and operational excellence to ensure continuous improvement of the great work being accomplished at FAMU. Operational excellence is the life-blood and a critical factor in our ability to execute the university’s strategic priorities.

During my tenure, we will seek to become a forward-thinking organization, ready to serve and educate future students of all ages, ethnicities, cultures in an ever- growing dynamic and diverse global community. Operations is the foundation upon which, we produce the high-quality intellectual capital the world demands.

Our university is at an inflection point in its storied history. The world around us is quickly changing. Our society operates at a speed, scale, and scope unlike any time in our world history. To sustain our national ranking among the top 100 institutions of higher education… a college of choice, FAMU must embrace and new technologies that drive and greatly enhance the efficiency of our organization. To remain competitive, we will dismantle the silos (structurally and intellectually) and utilize cross-functional teams along with systems thinking to approach addressing challenges facing our university.

As Executive Vice President/COO, my primary goal is to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness at FAMU by: 1) establishing a team first approach to solving the challenges we face, 2) removing the walls that restrict our ability to collaborate and execute, and 3) developing a campus culture that fosters and promotes innovative thinking. All to make FAMU a model of both intellectual and organizational excellence.
